Reflection Blog Post

  1. My favorite project this semester was the photoshop project where I created an advertisement that portrayed the benefits of natural remedy skin care.  This one was my favorite because I believe that Photoshop was the easiest program to work with so it allowed me to be most creative since I was able to do more.
  2. I honestly believe that I will use all of the skills I’ve learned in the class in the real world. Nowadays, companies are always looking for employees who have sufficient skills in Adobe or Microsoft. Now that I’ve been able to learn all the different skills within the different softwares of Adobe, I am able to put that on my resume and use that in my career.
  3. This class made me realize that I might want a career in advertisement or public relations. Having gotten to be creative and try to sell the idea of natural skin care remedies, I realized that I have a passion for creating and trying to market. The skills I’ve learned from photoshop and illustrator would help me develop advertisements for posters, billboards, or online. The skills I’ve learned from audition and premiere will help me know how to create commercials and even podcasts. I feel like with the popularity of technology, all of the skills we’ve learned will be beneficial for almost all careers.
  4. There were not really any skills that I was hoping to learn, I really came into this class with an open mind and was eager about all of the softwares we got to work with. I’m happy I got to play around and sample all of the Adobe products because I don’t think I would have learned those skills has I not taken the class.
  5. All of the hyperlinks within the instructions for tutorials were all very useful in being successful in this class. However, I also enjoyed using bensound for my background music in my Audio story project and my final video project. That site has allowed me to find the perfect, royalty-free music to make my projects better.

For this project, I decided to create a Do-It-Yourself video for a face mask recipe. Since my blog is about natural remedies to skin care, I figured a great way to incorporate that into my project way by doing a visual demonstration of how to create your own face mask. I was inspired by those Buzzfeed tasty videos that show how to create meals using simple recipes. I like how those simplify the process and show every step, step-by-step, making it easy to follow.

The elements of my design are short little clips. I wanted to keep everything simplified so I created a clip for every single step. I feel like with social media lately, attention spans are cut so short that the best way to keep the audience interested is to have very short clips so that the audience is always seeing something new, not bored by one long clip showing the same thing.

When I created my first draft of this project, I didn’t have guiding captions and instructions because I did not know how to do so. This time, I was able to understand switching between ASSEMBLY, EDITING, COLOR, EFFECTS, AUDIO and GRAPHICS. I was unaware that in this option you were able to perform different editing techniques on your project. This taught me how to incorporate text onto my clips. I also found a way to add effects to that test for a more appealing look. My design process when it came to filming was easy, I just recorded a clip of every single step I took to create the face mask.

I feel like the simplicity of my video is what makes it efficient to achieve my goal of creating an easy, step by step tutorial. My goal is to tell viewers how to create their own face mask at home. All the information they need for that is a list of what they need and then instructions on what to do. My video includes all of that, which makes it effective.

I felt like I learned most about Premiere transitioning between my rough to final draft. I had so much more difficulty during the rough draft because I did not know how to work that program. In the final I ended up figuring out the system and learning even more unexpected things that I am able to add to my video. This helped me become more familiarized with the software.

That is what I was trying to achieve with this idea, even though this is still a rough draft and I am not done yet, MANY tweaks still to be made.

My design process when it came to filming was easy, I just recorded a clip of every single step I took to create the face mask. When it came to actually editing the film was when it got tricky. I was unable to figure out how to edit the text of the title page, which is why the default text is still on there, but I did want to include it to show that I do intend on adding one. I also have yet to add background music so that there is an audio element that keeps the video flowing and interesting. It was simple piecing the video together, I just need to work on adding in transitions and maybe even adding a sublt fast-forwarding effect to make the video seem like it’s even more quick and simple. There are definitely many more edits I plan on making, this is a very very rough draft just so that I can get my ideas out there.

I am still figuring out the Premier software. I feel as though softwares like iMovie and Windows Movie Maker have made video editing so simple that this advanced software is making me have to work a lot harder. My final product will definitely have more flow and more information. I plan on adding text in every clip to guide the viewer through the process and I plan on having a title page and conclusion page.
